Along with rogue anti-malware, fake anti-piracy utilities are now also being distributed. Many Internet users download music and other media from the net, while being infected by malware from hacked or rogue websites. These Trojans issue fake copyright warning messages to scare the public - They are advised to take their chances in court, or skip the heavy fines and possible jail time by opting for a ‘pre-trial settlement’. They are then directed via hacked websites to another malware site where computers are further infected and where fake financial ‘settlements’ are solicited, and where banking details are provided to criminals.

Website Visitors

Like most website operators, Scam Alert Network collects non-personally-identifying information of the sort that web browsers and servers typically make available, such as the browser type, language preference, referring site, and the date and time of each visitor request. Scam Alert Network’s purpose in collecting non-personally identifying information is to better understand how Scam Alert Network’s visitors use its websites. From time to time, Scam Alert Network may release non-personally-identifying information in the aggregate, e.g., by publishing a report on trends in the usage of its websites.

Scam Alert Network also collects potentially personally-identifying information like Internet Protocol (IP) addresses. Scam Alert Network does not use such information to identify its visitors, and does not disclose such information other than under the same circumstances that it uses and discloses personally-identifying information as described below.

Gathering of Personally-Identifying Information

Certain visitors to Scam Alert Network’s websites choose to interact with Scam Alert Network in ways that require Scam Alert Network to gather personally-identifying information. Scam Alert Network may collect statistics about the behaviour of visitors to its websites. For instance, Scam Alert Network may reveal how many downloads a particular item got or other statistics about most popular products. However, Scam Alert Network does not disclose personally-identifying information other than as described below.

Protection of Certain Personally-Identifying Information

Scam Alert Network discloses potentially personally-identifying information only to those of its employees, contractors, and affiliated organizations that (i) need to know that information in order to process it on Scam Alert Network’s behalf or to provide services available at Scam Alert Network’s websites, and (ii) that have agreed not to disclose or use it otherwise. Some of those employees, contractors and affiliated organizations may be located outside of your home country; by using Scam Alert Network’s websites, you consent to the transfer of such information to them. If you are a registered user of a Scam Alert Network website and have supplied your email address, Scam Alert Network may occasionally send you an email to tell you about the facility and changes or new features added to it, or to solicit your feedback about the facility, or just keep you up to date with major developments at Scam Alert Network. We primarily use our blogs or onsite notices to communicate this type of information, so it is unlikely that you will receive this type of email communication, unless you subscribed to a specific service with an option to unsubscribe whenever you wish to do so.

Scam Alert Network takes all measures reasonably necessary to protect against the unauthorized access, use, alteration, or destruction of potentially personally-identifying information.

Business Transfers

Scam Alert Network may sell, transfer or otherwise share some or all of its assets, including subscription services in connection with a merger, acquisition, reorganization, sale of assets, or bankruptcy. However such transactions will be announced publically at least 30 days in advance and the details will be published prominently on the affected facility.

Cookies

A cookie is a string of information that a website stores on a visitor’s computer, and that the visitor’s browser provides to the website each time the visitor returns. Scam Alert Network may use harmless cookies to help identify visitors and their usage of facilities and access preferences. Visitors who do not wish to have cookies placed on their computers should set their browsers to refuse cookies before browsing the Internet, with the drawback that certain features of websites may not function properly without it. All login and online purchase facilities require cookies or else it will not be possible to facilitate such a transaction.

Our Policy Towards Children

Our websites are not directed to persons under 13 and persons under the age of 18 must obtain the permission of a parent or guardian before entering into any agreement at any of our websites. If a parent or guardian becomes aware that his or her child has provided us with personally identifiable information without their consent, he or she should contact us. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal identifiable Information, we will delete such information from our records.

Please note that our Spam Alert facility is reserved for adults only. Spam messages, botnet and other activities by cyber criminals often contain material not suitable for children and some of the websites mentioned, may contain malicious viruses that can damage a computer, compromise your privacy and expose you to many other hazards. Children should not be exposed to Internet Criminals and therefore we urge children not to visit our Spam Alert facility. Crackers and Spammers

Any person who engage in cracking, spamming and other harmful activities at this domain, waiver all protection provided by this Privacy Policy. We reserve the right to publicly disclose such activities and all applicable information.

Although most changes are likely to be minor, Scam Alert Network may change its Privacy Policy from time to time in our sole discretion. Scam Alert Network encourages visitors to frequently check this page for any changes to this Privacy Policy, using the effective date as an indication of the most recent changes. Your continued use of this site after any change in this Privacy Policy will constitute your acceptance of such change.

Public Facilities

All Public Facilities at Scam Alert Network are subject to our Forum Registration Agreement. This agreement is also extended to Blog Comments and all other facilities available to the public. By using such facilities, visitors indicate their acceptance of the Registration Agreement.
